Cage Warriors Fighting Championship are returning to the Echo Arena, Liverpool, CEO Graham Boylan revealed exclusively to The Sprawl today.

The promotion is set to return to the city following the success of Cage Warriors 78, which took place at the Echo Arena in September. Headlined by a lightweight title fight between defending champion Chris Fishgold and Jason Ponet, a reported 4,000 fans turned out to see the hometown fighter defend his crown.

The show was also notable for the emergence of Paddy Pimblett onto the global scene, as the Liverpudlian took home the featherweight title in emphatic fashion, dispatching of Johnny Frachey in just over 90 seconds.

Boylan confirmed the news that the promotion would be returning to the venue in April of 2017.

“The first weekend of April, we’ll be back,” said Boylan, who also confirmed they would be announcing six new shows in the coming weeks.
