A middleweight championship bout between Lee Chadwick and Victor Cheng has been added to the Cage Warriors 88 card set to take place in October.

The promotion announced the news earlier today.

The belt, which is now vacant, was last held by Oskar Piechota, who won the strap against Jason Radcliffe at CWFC 85, vacated the belt to sign with the UFC.

Chadwick (23-13-1 MMA, 2-1 CWFC) made his professional debut on a Cage Warriors card, but lost to now welterweight champion Karl Amoussou. Around 13-years-later, the Liverpudlian made his return to the promotion, and stopped Tommy Quinn in under a minute at Cage Warriors 82. Following that, “The Butcher” submitted Andrei Manzolo at Cage Warriors 85.

Cheng (11-2 MMA, 3-1 CWFC) made his CW debut at Cage Warriors Fight Night 1, but was stopped in the third round by John Michael Sheil. His next two bouts were with the promotion, where Cheng picked up two straight wins, earning one submission, with one decision. He returned to the promotion at Cage Warriors 78, where he cruised to a decision victory over Leeroy Barnes.

The Swedish fighter was set to challenge Jason Radcliffe for the vacant Cage Warriors Middleweight Championship, but pulled out with an injury, and was subsequently replaced by Oskar Piechota, who later won the belt, and signed with the UFC.

Cage Warriors 88 takes place live from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England on October 28, 2017. The card, which now features two title fights, is headlined by a lightweight championship bout between current champion Chris Fishgold and Alexander Jacobsen.
