Tonight news has broke that former middleweight champion Chris Weidman has been forced out of his title fight at UFC 199 against current champion Luke Rockhold after picking up an injury whilst training for this fight. The rematch between the two fighters was scheduled to take place on June 4th but this news has forced the UFC to look for a new challenger for the champion, who judging by his social media is happy to fight anyone, anytime for the middleweight title.

There will be several names thrown around as a replacement for Weidman, but if the UFC wanted to find an opponent in fighting shape and easy to sell as an opponent for Rockhold, they’ll book Jacare Souza as Weidman’s replacement. The two fighters have met previously in Strikeforce for the middleweight title, a fight that Rockhold won via decision but Souza has improved hugely since the first fight and following his destruction of Vitor Belfort this past weekend, would make an excellent replacement for Weidman.
