The UFC Welterweight Championship was on the line in the main event of UFC 209, and the two men who were fighting for it were very familiar with each other.

Champion Tyron Woodley attempted to defeat Stephen Thompson for the second time, after their first encounter at UFC 205.

The fight was one of the most technical you’ll see, and if you’re just a casual fight fan, it definitely weren’t for you. I, personally, enjoyed it. Although there was not much action, it was technically good.

Every single round played out the same, with the only thing to really talk about being the fifth round knockdown (s) from Tyron Woodley. He was visibly desperate, and planted a right hand on the chin of Thompson, who went down, got back up, and went down again. By the way, I was watching the second fight, not the first, it just so happened that that exact thing happened in both fights.

Going into the fifth round, I had Thompson 3-1 up, meaning that Woodley would need to finish to win. He didn’t finish, but managed to get a decision. The scorecards read 48-47, 48-47, and 47-47) leaving Woodley with a majority decision win.
