A middleweight scrap between Tim Kennedy and divisional newcomer Rashad Evans has been added to UFC 205, which takes place in New York.

This news comes as no surprise as it was reported by FloCombat last month, but now multiple outlets have been able to confirm the news.

Kennedy (18-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) came over with numerous other Strikeforce fighters when the promotion closed its doors, and has had a mainly successful UFC career thus far. The Jackson-Wink fighter defeated Roger Gracie by decision in his first UFC bout before stopping Rafael Natal at UFC: Fight For The Troops 3 in November of 2013. Kennedy then faced now-middleweight champion Michael Bisping in Canada, and walked away with a unanimous decision victory. In his most recent outing, Kennedy faced Yoel Romero at UFC 178 in September of 2014. The first two rounds of the bout were exciting but when Romero stayed on his stool prior to the start of his third round, the controversy started. Romero stayed on his stool for way over the allotted minute and when he did eventually come out, it took him only 58-seconds to stop Kennedy.

Evans (19-5-1 MMA, 14-5-1 UFC) has been a staple in the light heavyweight division for years, having won the title from Forrest Griffin at UFC 92. “Suga” has been involved in three UFC title fights and at the age of 36 is looking to get one more crack at gold, this time at 185. Until UFC 145, Evans’ only loss was to Lyoto Machida at UFC 98, where he was dethroned as light heavyweight champion. Evans faced Jon Jones for the title at UFC 145, and lost a decision. Evans lost another following that fight, this time a decision to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. The American looked like he could be getting back to his best when he picked up two wins against Dan Henderson and Chael Sonnen respectively, but in his last two, he’s lost both. The first was a decision loss to Ryan Bader and the second was a first round knockout loss to Glover Teixeira.
