A women’s bantamweight bout between former title challengers Sara McMann and Liz Carmouche has been added to UFC Halifax.
The UFC announced the news on Monday.
McMann (10-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) made her UFC debut with a record of 6-0, and after a debut victory over Sheila Gaff, she was given a title shot against then champion Ronda Rousey. McMann lost the bout via TKO in the first round. She rebounded from the loss by defeating Lauren Murphy at UFC Maine. The former Olympian lost both of her next two bouts, losing on points to Miesha Tate before tapping to a rear naked choke to now champion Amanda Nunes. She got back on track at UFC Vegas when she defeated Jessica Eye over the course of three rounds. In her most recent outing, McMann submitted Alexis Davis.
Carmouche (11-5 MMA, 3-3 UFC) made her promotional debut in the first ever UFC Women’s title fight, but was submitted by Ronda Rousey in the first round of their bout at UFC 157. She rebounded from the loss by stopping Jessica Andrade at UFC on FOX 8. In her third UFC fight, Carmouche lost a decision to Alexis Davis before losing another decision, this time to Miesha Tate. “Girlrilla” is currently riding a two fight win streak, with decision victories over Lauren Murphy and Kaitlyn Chookagian respectively.
UFC Fight Night 105 takes place live from the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on Feb. 19. The event is now set to be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne.
