#2 ranked UFC Women’s Strawweight Karolina Kowalkiewicz is set to face UFC newcomer Jodie Esquibel at UFC Fight Night 118.
UFC officials announced the match-up early on Wednesday.
Kowalkiewicz (10-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) is the former KSW Women’s Flyweight Champion. The Pole went 3-0 in her first three UFC bout, defeating Randa Markos, Heather Jo Clark, and Rose Namajunas. The 31-year-old suffered her first career defeat at the hands of Joanna Jędrzejczyk in a strawweight title bout. She then faced Claudia Gadelha, and was submitted in the first round.
Esquibel (6-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is a six time Invicta FC veteran, and has faced names such as Alex Chambers and Alexa Grasso. Her last loss was against Grasso, who defeated her in the main event of Invicta FC 18. Following that fight, Esquibel won a split decision over DeAnna Bennett at Invicta FC 22.
