A heavyweight bout between Ruslan Magomedov and Stefan Struve, which was scheduled for UFC 204 in Manchester, is off. Magomedov has been forced to pull out of the fight due to a staph infection.
MMAJunkie first reported the news.
Magomedov only has one loss on his professional MMA record and that was back in 2011. Since then, the Russian has went 3-0 in the UFC and has picked up victories over names such as Tim Sylviaand Ricco Rodriguez. In the UFC, Magomedov has defeated Viktor Pesta, Josh Copeland and Shawn Jordan, all by decision. Struve, who now needs a new opponent if he wishes to stay on the card, is 2-1 in his last three. The almost 7ft Dutchman defeated Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva to earn himself his last two victories.
UFC 204 takes place live from the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England on Oct. 8. The card is expected to be headlined by a middleweight title fight between current champion Michael Bisping and longtime rival Dan Henderson.
