A heavyweight contest between Roy Nelson and Alexander Volkov has been announced for UFC on FOX 24, which takes place in Kansas.

The promotion announced the news earlier today.

Nelson (22-13) is looking to win his second straight fight, with his last contest ending in a second round knockout win. That win came against Brazilian Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva at UFC Brasilia. Prior to that win, the American dropped a controversial split decision to Derrick Lewis.

Volkov (27-6) is set to make his second UFC appearance, compared to Nelson’s 18. Prior to signing with the UFC, the Russian had held the Bellator heavyweight championship. In his promotional debut, Volkov took a split decision win over Timothy Johnson at UFC Fight Night Belfast.

UFC on FOX 24 takes place live from the Sprint Center in Kansas, Missouri, on Saturday, April 15. The card is set to be headlined by a flyweight championship fight between current champion Demetrious Johnson and Wilson Reis.
