A pivotal lightweight bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson may have finally been agreed upon. If reports are to be believed, the fight will take place at UFC 209 for the UFC Interim Lightweight Title.

This fight was first reported to be a ‘done deal’ on Christmas day by a Russian outlet, but that report later was proven false. The two men have been going back and forth over social media, with Ferguson refusing to sign the bout agreement unless he made the exact same amount of money as Khabib. ‘Off the table’ were the words used by Dana White just a few days prior to UFC 207 when talking about whether that is going to happen.
Yesterday evening, Tony Ferguson sent out a tweet insinuating that he would be returning to the cage soon, while Khabib has sent out a tweet announcing that he has started his fight camp for UFC 209, saying that he will let fans know as soon as he has an opponent.
