Coming off his first loss as a professional, “Platinum” Mike Perry has a lot of pressure on him leading into his main card fight against Jake Ellenberger at UFC Nashville.

Perry is one of the most controversial characters in the promotion, so there was definitely people tuning in to watch him lose. During and after the first round, it seemed that their wish may be granted, but what happened in the second left jaws hanging.

Ellenberger used wrestling and crisp striking to win the first frame, and looked to be in a good place starting the second round, but things changed when the 32-year-old was dropped by a short left hook. Known for maybe not having the best chin, Ellenberger stayed away from shots on the ground and managed to survive.

The fight was back on the feet, and it was clear Perry had gained a massive amount of confidence since the knockdown, and that confidence may have lead to the knockout. As the pair broke from a clinch near the centre of the octagon, the 25-year-old cracked Ellenberger with a damaging elbow, and then watched his opponent crash to the canvas.

“The Juggernaut” was out as soon as the elbow landed, and his body then lifelessly crashed to the canvas, with his head bouncing off the canvas. It was a shocking, brutal, and exciting knockout, but moments after there was a lot of concern for Ellenberger, who was still on the canvas whilst the official results was being announced.

The American did manage to get back up on to his stool, and seemed fine, but there has been no update health wise as of yet.
