UFC Lightweight Michael Chiesa has put pen to paper, and has signed a brand new four fight deal with the promotion.
MMAFighting.com‘s Ariel Helwani confirmed the news on Wednesday.
Chiesa (14-3) is the Ultimate Fighter Season 15 winner. Since winning the show, “Maverick” has gone 7-3 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. In his most recent outing, he had a three fight win streak snapped in controversial fashion. His opponent, Kevin Lee, had a rear naked choke locked up, but referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the bout before Chiesa had tapped, or gone unconscious.
During his three fight win streak the 29-year-old fighter had defeated Mitch Clarke, Jim Miller and Beneil Dariush. Although he does not currently have a fight scheduled, Chiesa has said he would like to fight one more time this year.
His previous UFC contract had not yet expired, with the American still having one fight left on the deal, but he decided to sign a new one now, sooner than later.
