An explosive heavyweight clash between former champion Junior dos Santos and rising prospect Francis Ngannou has been announced for UFC 215.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship revealed the news on Twitter today.

Dos Santos (18-5) is coming off a crushing first round KO loss to Stipe Miocic; the fight was for Miocic’s UFC Heavyweight Championship. In his last seven bouts, the Brazilian has maintained a win-one-lose-one ratio, with some of his more significant wins coming over the likes of Ben Rothwell and Stipe Miocic in their first meeting.

Ngannou (10-1) burst on to the UFC scene in late 2015, when he dispatched of Luis Henrique via brutal uppercut. Since that time, he has won four straight, picking up three TKO wins and a submission victory. In his most recent outing, the Frenchman stopped former champion Andrei Arlovski at UFC Denver.

UFC 215 takes place live from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on September 9, 2017.
