A lightweight bout between longtime veteran Jim Miller and former welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves has been added to UFC 205. Alves was initially scheduled to face Al Iaquinta, but after Iaquinta was pulled, Miller stepped in.

FloCombat confirmed the news following an initial report by @TalkMMA on Twitter.

Alves (21-10 MMA, 13-7 UFC) challenged for the UFC Welterweight Championship at UFC 100 after going 9-2 in the UFC, but after a decision loss to Georges St. Pierre, Alves went 2-3 in his next five bouts. “Pitbull” then had to sit on the sidelines due to multiple injuries. The Brazilian was on the shelf for around two years but upon returning to the cage, took home a decision victory over Seth Baczynski in the Fight of The Night at UFC on FOX 11. Alves then faced Jordan Mein at UFC 183, and stopped Mein with a body kick in the second round. In his most recent outing, Alves faced Carlos Condit, but after having his nose broken in the fight, the doctor called an end to the action at the end of the second round.

Miller (27-8 1NC, MMA, 15-6 1NC, UFC) was unbeaten in four fights before successive losses to Donald Cerrone and Beneil Dariush. Miller got back to winning ways with a split decision victory over Danny Castillo before being submitted by Michael Chiesa in December of 2015. Following another loss to Diego Sanchez at UFC 196, Miller faced Takanori Gomi at UFC 200. Miller won the fight via TKO in the first round. In his most recent outing, Miller faced Joe Lauzon in a rematch of their fight in 2012 which was a contender for Fight of the Year. Miller defeated Lauzon via split decision.

UFC 205 takes place live from Madison Square Garden in New York on Nov 12.
