A middleweight fight between Hector Lombard and Brad Tavares has been pulled from UFC on FOX 23.

UFC officials passed the news on to MMAJunkie.com, who later confirmed with parties close to both camps.

Lombard and Tavares were set to collide at 185lbs, with Lombard attempting to rebound from two consecutive knockout losses at the hands of Neil Magny and Dan Henderson. The Cuban has not won a fight since March of 2014. Tavares was looking to make it two in a row, after taking a split decision victory over Caio Magalhaes at UFC 203. Prior to that, Tavares was stopped by Robert Whittaker in under one minute at UFC Fight Night 65.

UFC on FOX 23 takes place live from the Pepsi Centre in Denver, Colorado on Jan. 28. The card is set to be headlined by a pivotal women’s bantamweight scrap between Julianna Pena and Valentina Shevchenko.
