Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has done it again at 170! Cerrone, who recently moved up to welterweight picked up his fourth straight win tonight at UFC 206 to stay undefeated in the weight class.

“The Immortal” Matt Brown, who is renowned for being one of the toughest and most exciting fighters in the UFC, was across the cage from him tonight, but after two fun, exciting rounds, Brown headed for an early night.

The first round was fun, with both men feeling each other out for a little while. Both men looked slightly on edge, likely more so because of the words said by Brown beforehand. The two men seemed to be good friends up until fight week, when Brown slated his former training partner, saying they were never friends. Cerrone came in to the first round, determined not to allow Brown to get inside his head, and after an entertaining first frame, I scored the round for “Cowboy”

Cowboy came out again in the second, throwing a lot of the same techniques, the switch kick to the head was very successful, along with some combos. Midway through the second frame, Brown tagged Cerrone with a right hand as Cerrone moved in, and scored the first knockdown of the fight, but Cerrone recovered sharpish, and got back to his game plan. After the second round, I had Cerrone 20-18 up, scoring it 10-9 for the Colorado native, meaning Brown would need a finish.

Throughout fight week, Brown refused to shake Cerrone’s hand, so before the beginning of the third, Cerrone gestured for a glove touch, and a hug, and after a moment to think about it, Brown cracked a smile and the two embraced as the round started. Cerrone pointed to the canvas, with a gesture to say ‘let’s stand here and fight’, and fight they did! Not for long, though, as just 34-seconds into the third round, Brown landed a jab to the body of Cerrone, and Cerrone countered with a violent switch kick to the head, the one he’d landed a few times prior, sending Brown to the mat unconscious.
