A bantamweight championship match-up between current champion Dominick Cruz and #6 ranked Cody Garbrandt is in the works for UFC 207.

According to multiple sources close to MMAFighting.com, the UFC is currently working to make the fight happen at UFC 207.

Cruz (22-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) debuted in the UFC at UFC 132 after transitioning over from WEC to the UFC. In his debut, Cruz faced longtime rival Urijah Faber for a second time, and won the bout via unanimous decision, earning the first defence of his UFC Bantamweight title. Cruz then faced Demetrious Johnson and again won the bout via decision. Following a series of injuries, Cruz was forced to vacate his title but returned at UFC 178 with a first round TKO victory over Takeya Mizugaki. ‘The Dominator’ then faced TJ Dillashaw in an attempt to win the belt back. After a five round, back and forth fight, Cruz won a split decision. In his most recent bout, Cruz fought Urijah Faber, and put their rivalry to bed, winning their third fight by decision.

Garbrandt (10-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC) made his UFC debut with a lot of hype behind him, and walked away with a third round TKO victory over Marcus Brimage at UFC 182. Garbrandt then faced Henry Briones at UFC 189, and won the bout via decision. In his third UFC bout, ‘No Love’ Augusto Mendes in just over four minutes at UFC Fight Night 83. Garbrandt made his UFC winning streak four when he dispatched of previously unbeaten Thomas Almeida in the main event of UFC Fight Night 88. In his most recent bout, Garbrandt stopped Takeya Mizugaki in just :48-seconds at UFC 202.

UFC 207 takes place live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dec. 30. The card is set to be headlined by a womens bantamweight title fight between current champion Amanda Nunes, and Ronda Rousey, who is returning for the first time since her devastating knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193.
