A heavyweight fight between Curtis Blaydes and Daniel Omielanczuk is set to take place at UFC 213.
Blaydes announced the fight on Instagram.
Blaydes (6-1-1 MMA, 1-1-1 UFC) was a perfect 5-0 upon signing for the UFC, and although he’s already a fan favorite and a possible future title contender, things haven’t been great for him. In his promotional debut, Blaydes lost to Francis Ngannou before stopping Cody East in the second round. In his most recent outing, the 26-year-old earned a win over Adam Milstead, but the bout was overturned to a NC after he failed a drug test.
Omielanczuk (19-7-1 1NC MMA, 4-4 UFC) went 1-2 in his first three octagon appearances, before putting together a three fight winning streak. During that streak, the Pole defeated Chris De La Rocha, Jarjis Danho, and Oleksiy Oliynyk. The 34-year-old is currently win-less in his last two, dropping fights to Stefan Struve and Timothy Johnson.
UFC 213 takes place live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 8, 2017.
