“What A Fight!” were the words from Joe Rogan, Mike Goldberg, myself and pretty much everybody else who watched Cub Swanson vs. Doo Ho Choi! A three round slugfest in which both men were moments away from being stopped.

It was Choi, who in my opinion, took the first round, he did get tagged himself but also had Cub desperately scrambling to stay in the fight. I had the Korean 10-9 up after the first, but the second was a different story.

Choi, once again was able to land violent bombs but it was Swanson who took over the second, seemingly having more gas in the tank. The second frame, in the same fashion of the first, was incredible, I scored that one to Swanson.

It all came down to the third round, and it was Cub Swanson who had the better of it. Maybe one of the best rounds this year, Choi had been brutally tagged over and over again and had almost nothing left in the tank, but Swanson still couldn’t get the finish. Violent shots poured in and bounced off the head of Choi, kicks, knees, elbows, punches all landed flush for “Killer Cub” but he couldn’t get the finish. He came the closest right at the end of the fight, scoring a knockdown after continuously tagging Choi, but Choi was able to hold on, and see the time out.

30-27, 30-27, and 29-28 were the scorecards, with all three judges scoring the fight in favour of Swanson. Swanson’s record now advances to 24-7, with Choi suffering his first loss, and his record dropping to 15-1.
