Bobby Green has withdrawn from his bout against Josh Burkman. The pair were set to fight at UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland. Green is currently dealing with personal issues. After MMAJunkie first reported the news, Green’s manager Jason House said Green “needs to take care of things for his family,”.
When asked how look this would keep Green out of the octagon, House said Green would like to be in before the end of the year or early 2017.
Green and Burkman are two of the most well known names in the UFC, with Green going 4-0 in his first four UFC bouts and Burkman returned to the UFC in 2015 following a three year start from 2005 to 2008. UFC Fight Night 96 is under one month away so if Burkman wants to stay on the card, the UFC will have to find him a replacement opponent quickly.
UFC Fight Night 96 takes place live from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon on Oct. 1. The card is set to be headlined by a bantamweight slugfest between John Lineker and John Dodson.
