A heavyweight bout between Alistair Overeem and Fabricio Werdum is in the works for UFC 213.

MMAFighting.com confirmed this news following an initial report from FloCombat.

The pair have met twice previously, with Werdum winning the first time in 2006, and Overeem winning the second bout in 2011.

Overeem (42-15 1NC) continued to improve with every performance, even at 36-years-old. In his most recent outing, he rebounded from a loss in a heavyweight championship fight against Stipe Miocic by dominating Mark Hunt, and eventually scoring a third round knockout.

Werdum (21-6-1) is three years older than Overeem, but also continues to improve. The Brazilian started his second stint in the UFC with four straight wins before he was given a fight for the interim heavyweight championship. Werdum won the belt against Mark Hunt at UFC 180, before unifying it against Cain Velasquez at UFC 188. The BJJ Black Belt lost his title to Stipe Miocic at UFC 198 before rebounding with a win over Travis Browne at UFC 203.

UFC 213 takes place live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 8, 2017.
