A lightweight bout between Manchester’s own Kane Mousah and Lewis Monarch has been announced for ACB Manchester.

The promotion released the news. They said this in a press release:

“Lightweights Lewis Monarch and Kane ‘The Danger’ Mousah are set to go head to head on March the 11th at the Manchester Arena for ACB 54 in another exciting bout that has been added to the card.

Lewis Monarch will be making the journey down from the North East to step into Mousah’s backyard for a scrap that will see who moves forward on the UK and European 155lb division. Both fighters have similar records with Monarch 7-1 and Mousah 8-1 and they also have devastating style that has seen 13 of their combined 15 wins end by way of finish and with 12 of them coming within the very first round.

Monarch has had a blistering start to his MMA career with a seven-fight win streak (all 1st round finishes) kicking off the Monarchs upward trajectory in the sport. With only one loss coming by way of decision in his last fight this next bout looks set to be his biggest test to date. Not only because he is facing his toughest and most dangerous opponent but because we will see how he bounces back from that first taste of defeat. Coming from the well established Team Fish Tank, under the tutelage and guidance of MMA veteran Andrew Fisher, one thing for sure is that he has the right people around him to help him bounce back from this and if he does bounce back as a better, badder and more dangerous fighter than he was previously was then Kane will have his hands full come March 11th.

Kane Mousah is without a doubt one of the most physically imposing figures in this division and he is a fighter that has already shown what Monarch is yet to show as he bounced back from his only defeat to take a first round victory at Tanko 2 last December with a performance that let everybody know ‘The Danger’ is back. One of the many rising stars from All Powers Gym in Manchester he has evolved in every fight. With an ever growing striking game and a head-on-grappling style that drowns many opponents, often quickly, he is fast becoming the complete package and will be looking to show that his title aspirations are far from done with a statement victory over the tough prospect Monarch on March 11th.”

Another bout made official today was a featherweight one between Azi Thomas and Eden Newton. The promotion said this:

“The latest bout set to go down at ACB 54 in Manchester on March the 11th at the Manchester Arena is a featherweight contest with fireworks written all over it when Azi ‘One Bomb’ Thomas takes on the ever tough Eden Newton.

Both fighters are renowned for their all-action style and with 13 wins between them and with all of those wins coming by way of finish this fight has all the makings of a battle that could steal the show on this prestigious fight card.

Eden Newton is 4 and 1 in his last 5 bouts with his only loss coming to one of the U.Ks highest ranked lightweight fighters Brendan Loughnane back in August of 2016. Newton put on a great showing in that fight and he fought at 155lbs giving away some size on Loughnane. It was a battle that if anything sawNewtons stock rise and with this bout at ACB 54 seeing him return to featherweight division he will be looking to make a statement with this performance that will put him back in the win column and will show why he is such a force at 145lbs.

That win will not come easy as across the cage from him will be one of the most deadly 145lb fighters in the division. Azi ‘One Bomb’ Thomas could easily change his name to ‘One Round’ as 5 of his 7 victories have come within the first five minutes. A well-rounded fighter with an all-action style, add to that his ability to start quickly and to put his opponents on the back foot makes him a nightmare for anyone looking to trade skills in the cage with him. For much of 2016 Thomas has plied his trade on foreign promotions and with him coming off the back of an impressive first round submission win in South Africa at EFX 56 he will be looking to carry that form into his first fight back on British shores for nearly a year.

When many casual fans look down the stacked ACB 54 card, at first, the names Thomas and Newton may not be the ones that catch their eyes but, with the style match up these fighters bring along with the aggressive way they always bring it, the names Thomas and Newton may well be the names fans walk away remembering.”

ACB Manchester takes place live from the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England on March 11th, 2017. The card is set to be headlined by a middleweight title fight between Mamed Khalidov and Luke Barnatt.
