Patrick ‘The Hooligan’ Holohan has officially announced his retirement from the sport of mixed martial arts. Holohan has been forced to retire from the sport due to a rare blood deficiency. Holohan announced the news on his Facebook page.

Holohan tried out for The Ultimate Fighter 18 but was defeated in the elimination rounds. Holohan did get a shot in the UFC around one year later, though, and debuted in the UFC known as a training partner of Conor McGregor.

Holohan made his promotional debut at UFC Dublin and submitted Josh Sampo in just over three minutes. He then fought Chris Kelades in Canada, but lost the fight via decision. Following his first professional loss, Holohan went on a two fight win streak with decision victories over Shane Howell and Vaughan Lee. In what seems to be his final MMA bout, Holohan competed in a Fight of the Year contender with Louis Smolka in the main event of UFC Fight Night Dublin, before eventually losing a second round submission.
