It was announced earlier today that Rhys McKee was once again without an opponent for the first defense of his Lonsdale Lightweight Title at BAMMA 28, but the promotion have now announced that McKee will face Liverpudlian Tim Barnett.

BAMMA revealed the news on Twitter.

Mckee (5-0) is one of the hottest prospects in the UK at the moment, and has not failed to disappoint fans in his first five professional fights. In his most recent bout. McKee put Jai Herbert unconscious in the first round of their bout at BAMMA 72, capturing the vacant Lonsdale Lightweight Championship.

Barnett (3-0) is fresh off of maybe the most impressive win of his career, as he dismantles Onur Caglar in just :43 seconds at Tanko FC 3. Prior to that, Barnett stopped Tomaz Wojtyna in the first round of their bout at FCC 16.

BAMMA 28 takes place live from the SSE Arena Belfast, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on February 24, 2017. The card is set to be headlined by a lightweight bout between UFC veterans Norman Parke and Paul Redmond.
