SHINOBI Fighting Championships have pulled off another top event. As always, the event was action packed, fast paced, and the arena was full.

With a few local Liverpool fighters competing, the crowd was largely scouse, and they were loud! The Liverpool Olympia was packed out and booming throughout the night, and the atmosphere only intensified throughout the night.

Seventeen fights all together, three of them being professional contests, and the other fourteen being amateur. The class of the fighters got better and better as the event went on. With 11 finishes, the fans didn’t have much to complain about.

The first real thing that stood out was what happened in the fight between Jordan Williams and Lewis Ridley. I missed the first round as I was interviewing backstage, but walked into the locker rooms to see Ridley on top, in mount, before the referee intervened. Myself and everybody else in the room was confused, and didn’t have a clue what had happened until Williams came storming into the locker room furious.

Long story short, he’d eaten too late, and brought it back up in the fight. Probably not the most pleasant scenario for him, Ridley, or the referee. Due to this, Williams was disqualified, and Ridley walked away with a win.

On to the main event, which was billed as Mark Kinsella’s professional debut. There was obviously hype behind Mick Stanton, too, but in reality, it was set up to be Kinsella’s night. “Kinny” was one of the most promising amateur’s in the country, and held the SHINOBI Amateur Welterweight title before turning pro.

Stanton well and truly neutralised him. “Stano” was better on the feet, on the ground, and in every other department. It was a clear win, with the judges awarding all three rounds to Stanton. The Liverpudlian, who trains out of HAMMA Gym even had time to showboat a little bit during the fight.

For Kinsella, back to the drawing board, but for Stanton, on to bigger and better things. He revealed in his post fight interview with The Sprawl that he will be fighting at the Echo Arena on April 1st at Cage Warriors 82.
