UFC 207 is the final card of the year, and is a huge occasion. Ronda Rousey returns for the first time since her devastating knockout loss at the hands of Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November of 2015, as she faces current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes in the main event.
Both the Co-Main Event and the Main Event are close, with people undecided who they think will win. For the Main Event, we reached out to some UK MMA stars to see who they think will take the win on Saturday.
Will it be Amanda Nunes’ ferocious power and quick hands or Ronda Rousey’s slick Judo and excellent submission game that come out on top on Saturday night? Find out what the cream of the crop of UK stars think below.
“I have Rousey winning that fight via armbar.”
“The Nunes vs. Rousey fight is a interesting one but all depends on what Ronda’s mindset is like but if I had to guess I would say Nunes TKO inside the first 2 rounds, she has serious power in her hands.”
“I think people are underestimating Nunes and thinking Rousey will walk through her, Nunes is no joke and I believe Rousey won’t be the same fighter after her last loss. I’m going for Nunes by decision.”
“It will be interesting to see where Rousey is at mentally. Her mind always seemed so strong but she seemed to take the loss to Holly very hard. I think we will see a refocused and improved Rousey and I expect her to become the UFC champion again.”
“I think it all depends on whether Rousey is mentally fit and sticks to what she knows best and tries to take it to the ground and finish it quick, if not I think it’s lights out for her!”
“Rousey wins for me because every fighter knows how much it takes getting back in there after a loss and going that long without a fight must have been a kick in the bread basket.”
Rousey vs. Nunes – I think Nunes’ style of striking makes her open to a clinch and throw from Ronda. Providing she gets that early takedown I can see a first round win for Rousey!
UFC 207 takes place live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dec. 30. The card is set to be headlined by a Women’s Bantamweight Championship fight between Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey. In the co-main event, Dominick Cruz attempts to make the fifth defence of his UFC Bantamweight Championship as he faces knockout artist Cody Garbrandt.
