Sergio Pettis may have just picked up the biggest win of his UFC career. Sergio, who is the brother of former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis, defeated John Moraga quite handily tonight.

“The Phenom” continues to improve in every outing, and this time weren’t any different. After an impressive first round, Pettis hurt Moraga badly and managed to score a knockdown at the end of the first frame.

The two men came out for the second round and it was more of the same, Pettis controlling the centre of the octagon, landing three and four punch combinations, as well as effective 1-2’s. Pettis likely won the second round too, putting his 20-18 up going into the third round.

In the third round, Moraga knew he had to finish, and tried to use his wrestling to take Pettis down and finish on the ground, but although he did manage to score a takedown, he couldn’t do anything with it and Pettis managed to stand back up. It was then Pettis who looked for the takedown, but after a short clinch, they split, and were back to striking. Pettis got the better of the striking again, and after a close round, their was a mix of viewers scoring it 30-27 and 29-28 for Pettis.

The win is arguably the biggest of his career, and improves his record to 15-2 while Moraga’s record drops to 16-6.
