The UFC are planning a welterweight title fight for UFC 201, and it is reportedly between teammates Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley.

Sources close to MMAFighting.com revealed the news.

Lawler (27-10, 1NC MMA, 12-4 UFC) won the welterweight championship in a rematch with Johny Hendricks at UFC 181 in a close fight. He has defended the belt twice. “Ruthless” is the perfect nickname for Lawler, who has two ‘Fight of the Year’ awards and four ‘Fight of the Night’ awards in his last six bouts. Lawler is coming off another ‘Fight of the Year’ contender against Carlos Condit in which he won via decision.

Woodley (15-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) is riding a two fight win streak with a 61-second TKO victory over Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night: Macau and a decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 183. “T-Wood” has been very vocal about wanting a title shot for some time now, and holds UFC victories over Jay Hieron, Josh Koscheck, Carlos Condit, Dong Hyun Kim and Kelvin Gastelum.
