Former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos has announced his move to welterweight. Dos Anjos has lost both of his last two fights.

The Brazilian announced the move on social media.

Dos Anjos (29-9 MMA, 14-7 UFC) lost his opening two UFC bouts, before putting together three in a row with one stoppage. That was followed by a 1-2 run before dos Anjos put together a real win streak. Four decisions and a submission over names such as Donald Cerrone and Evan Dunham earned RDA five straight wins, but that was snapped when he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov via decision at UFC on FOX 11. The 32-year-old rebounded from the loss with two stoppage victories over Jason High and Benson Henderson before dominating Nate Diaz and earning a title shot against then champion Anthony Pettis. Dos Anjos won the bout via decision after a dominant 25-minutes. In December of 2015, he made the first defence of his title, when he stopped Donald Cerrone in just 66-seconds. At UFC Fight Night 90, dos Anjos faced Eddie Alvarez, but lost the fight, and the championship via first round TKO. Following the loss, the Evolve MMA fighter faced Tony Ferguson, but dropped his second straight loss, losing on points to Ferguson after five rounds.

Dos Anjos does not yet have an opponent for his move to 170lbs, and it is also unclear when he will make his debut.
