Phillipe Nover calls time on 14-year MMA career following latest defeat

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Phillipe Nover has made the call to hang up his gloves, fourteen years into his mixed martial arts career.

I want to thank the UFC, Dana White, and Sean Shelby for giving me a second chance at my dreams as a fighter. I’m officially retiring from MMA. A big thanks to my teammates and coaches over the years, as well as my supportive family and friends. I’ll be moving on to focus on many other things in my life. It was an amazing run and I’m glad I tried my best at it.

The American bows out of the sport with a record of eleven wins, eight losses and one draw. Following two stints with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Nover leaves the sport with a 1-6 record under the promotion.

He confirmed what he would be doing next over Twitter, saying this:

I’ll be starting school for my masters degree to become a Nurse Practitioner. Time to focus on my future.
