Johny Hendricks just can’t catch a break. The former welterweight champion not only missed weight again, but was once again on the wrong end of a very questionable decision. Now, I’m not saying the decision was good, or bad, but there is people who are siding both ways.

Magny came out trying to use his 11, yes eleven inch reach advantage to keep the distance, as well as kicks, and it went well for the most part. Hendricks couldn’t get inside and weren’t landing much on the feet, but the pace of the fight changed when Hendricks went back to his wrestling. “Big Rigg” finished the first round on top.

In the second round, Hendricks utilised more of his wrestling, and Magny just didn’t have much of an answer to it. Not only was Hendricks’ technique better, but he was visibly much stronger. The story of this fight was Neil Magny trying to keep the range and use his distance against Johny Hendricks trying to wrestle and make the fight a grinding one.

In the third round, Hendricks looked less than fresh. The weight cut clearly was playing a part, with Hendricks taking deep breaths and not looking as fresh as he previously did. Once again the 33-year-old used his wrestling to score points. On Twitter, at least, it seemed to be unanimous that Hendricks had done enough to win with around twenty seconds remaining, but after Magny threw up a triangle, and was seemingly close to finishing at the buzzer, scores swayed.

Magny improves to 19-5 while Hendricks drops to 17-6.
