A middleweight championship fight between current champion Michael Bisping and former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre has been announced by UFC President Dana White.

White announced the news on SportsCenter, saying “GSP will fight Michael Bisping, the fight will take place in the second half of 2017.”

Bisping (30-7 MMA, 20-7 UFC) has looked unstoppable since losing to Luke Rockhold at UFC Sydney. He took decision wins over CB Dolloway and Thales Leites before edging Anderson Silva in a Fight of the Year Contender at UFC London. Following that bout, Bisping stepped up on short notice to fight for the title against bitter rival Luke Rockhold. Bisping won the fight via first round knockout before defeating Dan Henderson in a rematch at UFC Manchester.

St. Pierre (25-2) went 20-2 under the UFC in his first stint, and defended his welterweight strap nine times after winning it against Matt Hughes at UFC 79. The Canadian retired from the sport in 2013 following a controversial decision win to Johny Hendricks. At 35-years-old, he returns to the octagon.

No date, or event has been announced for the fight yet.
