Norifumi ‘Kid’ Yamamoto and Chris Beal are set to fight at UFC Fight Night 89, which takes place in Ottawa and is headlined by a welterweight match-up between Rory MacDonald and Stephen Thompson.

Yamamoto (18-6, 1NC MMA, 0-3, 1NC UFC) debuted in the UFC with a decision loss against now-flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. Following the loss, Yamamoto lost to Darren Uyenoyama before being submitted for the first time in his career by Vaughan Lee. Most recently, Yamamoto returned following a three year absence from the sport at UFC 184, but his fight with Roman Salazar was brought to a halt as Salazar was deemed unable to continue due to an accidental eye poke.

Beal (10-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) made his UFC debut in spectacular fashion as he picked up a flying knee victory over Patrick Williams at UFC 172. Beal then picked up a decision victory over Tateki Matsuda before moving down to flyweight and going 0-2. Beal made his flyweight debut against Neil Seery and lost a decision to the Irishman before losing a split decision to Chris Kelades at UFC Fight Night 74. Beal is now set to return to bantamweight.

UFC Fight Night 89 takes place live from the TD Place Arena in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and is headlined by a pivotal welterweight bout between Rory MacDonald and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson.
