Daniel Kelly made a statement tonight. Not only did he pick up another UFC win, but he did it against former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans.

The first, second, and third round were all very similar. Kelly, being a southpaw, and Evans, being an orthodox fighter, were both firing their back hand. The Australian had much more success, though, and repeatedly landed the left hand.

Every single round was razor thin, and it could have gone either way. I felt like Kelly had edged it, but wouldn’t have complained if the decision was given to Rashad. After the announcement, Rashad looked distraught, but I feel he was misguided by Tyrone Spong in his corner who told him confidently that he was two rounds up.

Evans should go back and watch the fight, and then reassess, because nobody can be distraught with losing that decision.
