The UFC have today announced that surging prospect, Yair Rodriguez (10-1) is set to take on former lightweight champion, Frankie Edgar (21-5-1) at UFC 211 at the American Airlines Centre, Dallas.

With a win over BJ Penn in his last outing, Rodriguez is stepping up in competition against ‘The Answer’ Edgar. A fan favourite, Rodriguez looks to continue to impress after winning in decisive fashion against the likes of Andre Fili (via flying kick KO) and dispatching an ageing BJ Penn with ease.

In Edgar’s last seven fights he has lost only once; a failed featherweight title bid vs. Jose Aldo at UFC 200, picking up notable wins over Urijah Faber and Jeremy Stephens in the stretch.

The stacked UFC 211 card so far is as follows:

Heavyweight Title: Stipe Miocic (C) vs. Junior Dos Santos
Strawweight Title: Joanna Jedrzejczyk (C) vs. Jessica Andrade
Welterweight: Demian Maia vs. Jorge Masvidal
Heavyweight: Ben Rothwell vs. Fabricio Werdum
Lightweight: Eddie Alvarez vs. Dustin Poirier
Flyweight: Henry Cejudo vs. Sergio Pettis
Featherweight: Enrique Barzola vs. Gabriel Benitez
Heavyweight: Jarjis Danho vs. Dmitry Poberezhets
Middleweight: David Branch vs. Krzysztof Jotko
Featherweight: Frankie Edgar vs. Yair Rodriguez
