A middleweight match-up between former champion Chris Weidman and Gegard Mousasi has been announced for UFC 210. This comes not long after Mousasi called out Weidman among other middleweights.

The promotion announced the news on Twitter.

Weidman (13-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) impressed fans in his early UFC bouts, going 5-0 before getting a title shot against Anderson Silva. At UFC 162, Weidman shocked the world, did the unthinkable, and beat “The Spider”. “The All American” then faced Silva in a rematch, and won after Silva broke his leg in the second round. He then faced Lyoto Machida, and won the bout via decision before stopping Vitor Belfort at UFC 187. Weidman lost the title to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194, and upon returning to the octagon, was stopped by Yoel Romero at UFC 205. Weidman is currently riding a two fight skid.

Mousasi (41-6-2 MMA, 8-3 UFC) went 4-3 in his first seven UFC bouts, but it now seems the 31-year-old has found his groove, as he is riding a four fight win streak. At UFC London, Mousasi defeated Thales Leites via decision before defeating Thiago Santos via knockout in the first round of their bout at UFC 200. Mousasi then faced Vitor Belfort in Manchester, and won the bout via TKO in the second round. In his most recent outing “The Dreamcatcher” stopped Uriah Hall in a rematch of their fight where Hall won via second round TKO.

UFC 210 takes place live from the Keybank Center in Buffalo, New York on April 8th, 2017.
