Ferreira faced Beneil Dariush at UFC 179 and suffered the first professional loss of his career, after he dropped a decision. The Brazilian then faced the toughest test of his career in Dustin Poirier, but lost the bout, making it two in a row after being knocked out by Poirier in the first round.
