UFC Heavyweight Ben Rothwell has been flagged by the US Anti Doping Agency for a potential anti-doping violation.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced yesterday evening that Rothwell had been notified of a potential USADA violation. The American is currently set to compete at UFC 211 against Fabricio Werdum.

Rothwell (36-10) hasn’t fought since UFC Zagreb on April 10, 2016 when he lost a unanimous decision to Junior Dos Santos in the main event. He issued a statement via text message to MMAJunkie, saying this:

“With the recent news received from USADA I would like to take this time to let everyone know, I have been under the care of a physician and trying to overcome a medical illness,” he said. “I would appreciate the chance to show that I have not cheated nor did I [intend] to cheat. Please hold your opinions of me until all the facts are out. I appreciate everyone’s support as I go through the process with [USADA].”
