It was announced today that Anderson Silva would return to the octagon against surging middleweight, Kelvin Gastelum.

After Gastelum impressed this past weekend, dispatching Vitor Belfort in the first round, the former welterweight makes a quick turnaround and will be back in the cage by June. Gastelum has only lost twice in his professional career, to Neil Magny and current welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley. After failing to make weight numerous times at 170lbs, he was forced to move up to middleweight where he seems right at home.

Since losing twice to Chris Weidman, Silva has dropped a close decision to current middleweight champ, Michael Bisping – a fight he arguably won – he then stepped in on late notice to take on Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 where he was inevitably dominated by the light-heavyweight champion. More recently, Silva defeated Derek Brunson at UFC 208, taking his record to 34-8.

UFC 212 takes place on June 3 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
