MMA fighters never retire, not really.

Despite having recently announced he was stepping away from the sport, Brett ‘The Spartan’ McDermott (7-5) looks set return to the cage (again), this time competing for the BAMMA heavyweight title. Standing in his way will be Ruben ‘The Viking’ Wolf (11-9) as the two are set to collide at BAMMA 29 in May.

Both men will be looking to bounce back from losses by strapping some gold around their waist, with McDermott most recently losing via doctor stoppage in a spirited late replacement bout with former Bellator champion, Liam McGeary, while Wolf dropped a unanimous decision in a rematch with James Mulheron.

In the middleweight division, current EFC champion Yannick ‘Black Mamba’ Bahati (7-2) looks to add another belt to the collection as he takes on Matt ‘Farmer Boy’ Hallam (6-2) in a rematch of their 2012 encounter.

Bahati recently defended the EFC strap, despatching of contender David Buirski in the second round. The victory was a return to form following a shocking 12-second loss to veteran Michiel Opperman in his previous outing.

Hallam has been quietly amassing a three-fight win streak, competing infrequently since 2013. The ‘Farmer Boy’ will want to avenge his loss to Bahati, taking home the belt in the process.

BAMMA 29 takes place at the Genting Arena, Birmingham on May 12. Tickets are available HERE.
