Following the announcement earlier this week that Kerry Hughes would make the first defence of her BCMMA bantamweight title against Lucie Bertaud in the main event of BCMMA 17The Sprawl can today reveal the next match up announced for the event.

A fight originally set for the September BCMMA show before it was rescheduled is now going to take place on December 3, as Sean ‘Sexy Curls’ Carter (10-4) is set to make his return, as he takes on Jordan Miller (12-15) in a lightweight showdown.

Carter vs. Miller BCMMA 17 Body

Carter, a former Cage Warriors lightweight title contender is one of the UK’s most entertaining fighters – inside and outside of the cage. He is rarely in dull fights and when he gets in front of the camera for a post-fight interview, it’s a must watch.

Heading into the start of 2015, Carter had a lot of momentum behind him. He was 10-1 in his career and had just picked up big wins over Mario Saeed and Tim Wilde under the Cage Warriors banner. Since then he has lost his last three fights. The first two of those outings were back-to-back loses in Finland, before losing a somewhat controversial fight against David Round at BCMMA 14. The fight against David Round had been agreed on 48-hours notice after Carter’s original opponent pulled out close to the fight.

Carter had been controlling the fight against Round, working for a takedown against the cage in the early stages of that fight before Round let off a barrage of elbows to the head. The elbows clearly knocked Carter out, but it was the location where they landed which left people questioning if they were to the back, or side of Carter’s head. The judges and referee ruled that the elbows were legal and Round won the fight.

Carter returns looking to end his 18-month winless drought and return to prove he is one of the best lightweight fighters in the UK, when he faces Jordan Miller in September.

Miller, who turned pro back in 2005, has fought a who’s who of the lighter weight classes, including clashes with Brad Pickett, Jason Young, Ronnie Mann, Brendan Loughnane and more recently, Chris Fishgold to name a few.

Miller, who has won the majority of his fights via submission, comes in to this bout having won three of his last four, with his only loss in that time coming against Chris Fishgold in April at Cage Warriors 75. He soon bounced back from that loss as he defeated Adrian Sturzu last time out at RXF 23 in June.

As always, BCMMA 17 takes place at Colchester’s Charter Hall and is headlined by a bantamweight title fight between Kerry Hughes and Lucie Bertaud. Tickets are available HERE.
