Iain Feenan (7-0) goes into his fight against Chris “The Bad Guy” Bungard (8-3) at ACB 54 hosted at the Manchester Arena on March 11th, 2017.

Speaking to The Sprawl, Ian expressed his desire to win and his excitement for his upcoming fight in Manchester.

Thanks for taking the time to speak to The Sprawl, Iain. Could you tell our readers about the type of fighter you are?

“I’d say my style was unorthodox and a pressure fighting grappler. I’m aggressive and bring different threats to the fight that most guys have never seen or had to deal with before. That said, every fight I have, I look to finish”

You are a three-time british and seven-time Scottish judo champion. Could you tell us about your judo background? Also, do you try and blend this in with your current style of fighting?

“I started judo at around 5 years old. I trained and competed around the world at the highest level for 15 years. When you’ve done a sport like judo for as long as I have, it’s hard not to use it and adapt it into my style of MMA. Judo is part of the reason I have done well in MMA. My focus now is to improve the other aspects of the sport so I can be a better MMA competitor”

How did the fight with Chris Bungard come about for ACB 54? ACB are trying to pushing British fighters and this is a prime example of that.

“I think this fight had to happen at some point. I’ve spoken to my coach James Doolan about this fight for over a year. I’m also friends with ACB matchmaker Carl Prince and I’d said to him I wanted to fight Bungard on their show in Glasgow last year. That never happened. Thankfully this time around he agreed to the fight and now we have the fight I’m sure most Scottish MMA fans will be excited about”

How much do you know about your opponent Chris Bungard and his style of fighting?

“Chris has fought a couple of my team-mates so I know a little about him from that. He has a good record on paper, he’s more experienced than I am and he’s already fought on ACB and other big European events. He’s fit and tough but as for his fighting style, he comes out aggressive and throws erratic strikes to try and grapple. As it stands I think stylistically I’m a really bad matchup for him”

You head into ACB 54 with a perfect 6-0 record. How confident are you that you will be 7-0 come Saturday March 11th?

“Im 100% confident I’ll move to 7-0. Bungard is a decent fighter and more experienced in MMA. But that being said I feel I’m better than him in every aspect of MMA. There’s nothing that he can bring to this fight that I haven’t seen before. I’ve been competing all my life, I train harder, I train with better guys and I have world class coaching”

It is approaching the four week mark for your fight. How has your training camp been? Is there any goals you wanted to achieve coming out of this camp?

“This camp has went really well so far. There’s a bunch of guys from Higher Level who are all fighting soon and we are peaking within weeks of each other. Because of that everyone is pushing each other on and I can say we get better every day because of this. As for what I want to achieve, well I’m constantly learning and improving thanks to my coach James Doolan and my training partners AT Higher Level MMA. Over the next 4 weeks I’ll be focusing on fine tuning my skill set and pushing myself harder so that come fight night this is the best version of me you will see”

Lastly, would does 2017 have in store for Iain Feenan?

“2017 is a big year for me. I want to get at least 4 fights in before 2018. There’s rumours the UFC is coming to Scotland again and I’d love to sign and fight on that obviously. Otherwise it’s about growing my skill set and continuing to improve every day”
