Former BAMMA Lightweight Champion Martin Stapleton has signed with rival promotion Cage Warriors Fighting Championship.

Following initial reports, Cage Warriors President Graham Boylan confirmed the news today on Twitter.

Stapleton (18-4-0) is a TUF and Bellator veteran, and held the BAMMA Lightweight Championship for a period of time. “.50 Cal” is currently riding a five fight winning streak and hasn’t lost a fight since 2014. Following a victory at FCC 11, Stapleton made his BAMMA debut, and submitted Sebastian Fournier in the first round of their bout. In his second bout, ‘Stapes’ defeated Jeremy Petley via TKO in the third round. The win earned the SBG Manchester fighter a shot at the vacant lightweight title, and he took it with open arms, stopping Gavin Steritt in just 75-seconds. In his most recent outing, Stapleton faced Damien Lapilus, and won the bout via disqualification after Lapilus landed an illegal knee.

Stapleton does not have a date set to fight yet, but with Cage Warriors 80 coming up on February 18, we may see him on that card in London.
