BCMMA will be starting it’s 2017 calendar of events on 18th February and today The Sprawl can exclusively reveal the first fight booked on the card. Harry Marple (4-1) is set to take on Per Franklin (7-4) at Colchester’s Charter Hall.

Marple, a three time BAMMA veteran will be looking to bounce back to winning ways following the first defeat of his professional career at BAMMA 23 where he lost to Shane Gunfield. Before that Marple was really making a name for himself as one to watch on the UK scene. Marple has proven himself as a finisher having finished all of his victories within 7 minutes picking up three wins by submission and the other by TKO.

His opponent in February is Cage Warriors vet Per Franklin who will be looking to make it back to back victories when he steps in the cage to face Marple at BCMMA 18. Franklin has spent the majority of his career fighting in Scandinavia and will be fighting on English soil for the first time in February. Six of Franklin’s seven victories have also been finishes which means the fans in Colchester are sure to be entertained in February.

BCMMA promoter Jack Mason had the following to say about this match up

“Harry Marple is one of the most exciting Welterweight prospects in the UK trained by UFC veteran Paul Taylor and we are really excited to welcome him to BCMMA. Marple will be taking on Gladius MMA’s Per Franklin who comes from a great gym himself and the Swedish guys are always well conditioned and very technical. This is an exciting European clash and great first addition to the BCMMA 18 fight card where we look to kick the year off with a bang on February 18th 2017.”

Also, Jack Eglin has now got another new opponent for his match up at BCMMA 17. Following fights announced against Leigh Mitchell who was forced to pull out through injury and then his fight against Muhammad Mokaev being scrapped. Eglin, who is one of the country’s best flyweight prospects will now square off against Rabekoto Haga for the Amateur 125lbs Interim Title on 3rd December. The winner of this fight is expected to face current champ Leigh Mitchell at BCMMA 18 on 18th February to unify the title.
