FightStar Championship touched down in the capital for the first time this past Saturday, hosting their eighth event to date, from the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre in West London.

Alex “Da Kid” Lohore (10-1) impressed in the main event, submitting “Dirty” Harry Marple (3-2) with a guillotine choke in the very first round. Marple – who was returning from an 18-month hiatus – initially escaped Lohore’s attempted guillotine choke, elevating Lohore and slamming him to the mat. Lohore was able to make the necessary adjustments though and was eventually able to secure the tap from Marple.

The victory earned Lohore the FightStar Welterweight Championship and boosted his win-streak to six, with four of those coming in 2016. Marple, on the other hand, loses for the second straight time.

BAMMA announced via Twitter yesterday that following his win over Marple, Lohore had joined their welterweight ranks.

In the evening’s co-headliner, Amir “The Prince” Albazi (9-0) remained perfect in his MMA career, submitting veteran Dino Gambatesa (10-10) and capturing the vacant FightStar Bantamweight Championship in the process. Albazi wasted no time, securing an early takedown and methodically passing to side control. Once in position, Albazi softened up his Welsh foe with elbows, before latching onto a kimura, causing Gambatesa to submit with 30-seconds remaining in the round.

Also on the main card, Alan Procter (0-1) found himself disqualified after landing a series of illegal knees which rendered Team Mjolnir’s Bjarki Thor Palsson (2-0) unable to continue and Jagz Singh (3-2) saw off debutant Dan Hunter (0-1) with strikes in the opening stanza.
