The Sprawl can today reveal the first batch of six fights finalised for BCMMA 16, including three professional title fights as well as two amateur titles on the line. BCMMA 16 is set to take place on July 23 and, as always, will be at Colchester’s Charter Hall.

The main event will see the BCMMA women’s bantamweight title on the line as Kerry “Rocksteady” Hughes (2-1) returns for her first fight in over two years to take on Stephanie Page (2-1). Hughes has not competed since Cage Warriors 69 ‘Super Saturday’ back in June 2014, where she picked up a very impressive TKO victory over the always tough Amanda Kelly.

Page comes in to this fight riding a two-fight win streak having also had a two year break of her own following a loss in her professional debut back in September of 2013. Since her return to action, she has picked up wins over Yamila Sanchez and Esther Cardenas in the second half of 2015 and will be looking to pick up her biggest win to date as she fights in the UK for the first time.

In the co-main event Gym 01’s Molly McCann (2-1) squares off against Clemence Schreiber (2-5) for the BCMMA women’s flyweight title. McCann was in action only last month at Shock N Awe 22, picking up a split decision win over Valerie Domergue. That win got McCann back to winning ways and she will be looking to make it back-to-back victories against Schreiber.

Like Stephanie Page in the main event, Clemence Schreiber will be making the trip over to fight in the UK for the first time as a professional fighter. Schreiber had a good 2015 picking up consecutive wins over Maria Casanova and Maguy Berchel, after starting her career 0-3. However, she lost in March to Maria Casanova via armbar at HFC in Switzerland.

Also added to the pro card is a strawweight title fight between Bryony Tyrell (2-0) and Mellony Geugjes (0-1). Tyrell returns to action following an impressive victory over Samantha Jean Francois at BCMMA 15, where she kept her undefeated record intact. If Tyrell can pick up the win, she will add the BCMMA strawweight professional title to the BCMMA amateur strawweight title she previously held.

Geugjes, who trains out of the world famous Mike’s gym in Holland, is looking to pick up her first win in MMA, but is used to competing winning world titles in kickboxing and European titles in boxing. Geugjes was also a contender for The Ultimate Fighter 23, losing in the elimination stages. She certainly has a reputation for being an exciting fighter and one the crowd in Colchester can look out for in July.

The first of two amateur title fights announced today will see BCMMA amateur featherweight champion, PK Zadeh (6-0) put his title on the line against another undefeated fighter, Rico Biggs. Zadeh defended his title at BCMMA 15 where he took down his opponent that night, Andreas Endis, at will and was close to finishing the fight on numerous occasions before picking up the unanimous decision. Biggs was also in action that same night at UCMMA 47, where he also picked up a unanimous decision victory over Harry Bentley.

The second amateur title fight added to the card is between BKK Fighters’ Wendy McKenna and Trojan Free Fighters’ Polly Beauchamp, who will face off for the vacant BCMMA atomweight title. This fight matches up former IMMAF Team UK teammates, as both women competed at last year’s European Championships in Birmingham. McKenna will look to finally pick up the BCMMA atomweight title, which she was originally slated to compete for at BCMMA 15 before a late change of opponent saw her forced to go up to strawweight where she defeated Naomi Harvey to win the vacant title. If McKenna can pick up a win on fight night in July, she will become a three-weight BCMMA Champion holding the atomweight, strawweight and flyweight belts.

Beauchamp won’t be focusing on this fight yet though, as she is set to fight Manuela Marconnetto as part of Cage Warriors return to Wales in Newport on June 4.

Finally, the last fight announced will see one of the UK’s top prospects, Cory McKenna take on Fiona Chystall, in an amateur strawweight match up. McKenna most recently picked up a submission victory against Karolina Wojcik on May 7 at UK Fighting Championships in Preston.
