An Interim Flyweight Championship Fight between Dominique Wooding and Andy Young has been announced for BAMMA 28, which takes place in Belfast.

BAMMA announced the fight among others over social media.

Wooding (3-0) is highly regarded as one of the hottest prospects on the UK MMA scene, and has impressed many in his first three professional fights. Wooding made his professional debut at WFS 4, and defeated Darren Castleton via TKO just 30-seconds into the first round. The Englishman’s next fight was at WFS 5, and he picked up another first round stoppage, this time over Iuri Bejenari. In his most recent outing, Wooding won the vacant WFS Flyweight Championship at WFS 6, where he stopped Lionel Marrero in the second round of their bout.

Young (10-8) is coming off possibly the biggest year of his career, as in 2016 he gave Rany Saadeh one of, if not his toughest fights to date at BAMMA 26, and came close to winning the BAMMA flyweight title. The fight with Saadeh ended in a decision loss for Young, but he rebounded with a title fight for the WWFC vacant flyweight title in the main event of WWFC 5 in Ukraine. Young faced previously undefeated Alexander Barabash in the main event of the show in Kiev, Ukraine, and due to an injury, the bout was stopped at the end of the second round, resulting in Young being crowned the champion.

BAMMA 28 takes place live from the SSE Arena Belfast in Belfast, Northern Ireland on February 24th, 2017. The card is set to be headlined by a lightweight fight between Norman Parke and Paul Redmond.
