After Braulio Estima injured himself in the warm up prior to his super fight with Leandro Lo, ADCC organisers began the hunt for a No-Gi specialist to take on Lo in a ADCC rules match.
Luckily for them, Gordon Ryan was happy to step up at the very last minute to face one of the pound for pound best grapplers on the planet.
Lo managed to land two takedowns on Ryan and avoided the leg lock attempts from the Renzo Gracie team standout to take the win via points.
In the other super fights, Macy’s ‘Buchecha’ Almeida beat Rafael Lovato on points, Cyborg Abreu beat Vinny Magalhaes on points and Bruno Frazzato took the win over Geo Martinez on points. The standout performance of the day came from the younger brother of Gordon Ryan, Nicky, who managed to place third in the trials after competing against adults in the u66kgs bracket as a 15-year-old.
