Ever since it’s first show, Polaris has always made sure that they get the world’s biggest grappling stars competing on their shows and, judging by the announced matches for Polaris 5, this event will be no different.

Headlining the card is a huge match between Garry Tonon and Dillon Danis – a grudge match between the two as Tonon is the only man to submit Danis at black belt and the Marcelo Garcia standout will be keen to even the score. Throw in the previous animosity between members of the Danaher Death Squad and some of the Marcelo Garcia team and it adds extra spice to this match.

Jake Shields returns for his second appearance on Polaris when he takes on the UK’s own Daniel Strauss. Shields is coming fresh off a win over Dillon Danis on Submission Underground and will be looking to continue his hot streak with a win over one of the biggest characters in the sport. Strauss has previously competed on Polaris, facing AJ Agazarm and it is widely regarded as one of the most entertaining matches in recent history, so it’ll be interesting to see what shenanigans go on in this match.

After retiring from MMA this year, Brad Pickett has decided to make the move into submission grappling and he’ll face an opponent known to many UK MMA fans in Phil Harris. This should be an exciting match between these two veterans and with the show being held in London, you can guarantee Pickett will bring the home support.
