Having recently been rescheduled for December 3, BCMMA 17 now has its new main event.

Newly crowned bantamweight champion, Kerry Hughes will defend her title for the first time against Frenchwoman, Lucie Bertaud.

Hughes picked up the strap at BCMMA 16, taking a well-earned unanimous decision over Clemence Schreiber in the show’s main event. Despite stepping into the cage for the first time in just over a year, Hughes didn’t miss a step, chalking up the third win of her professional career.

A European champion amateur boxer, Bertaud is also a 2015 IMMAF silver medalist, coming up short the final due to an injury.

Hughes vs. Bertaud

BCMMA promoter Jack Mason gave us the lowdown on this explosive matchup: “BCMMA are really excited to see the return of our bantamweight champion, Kerry Hughes after her fight of the night display at BCMMA 16 where she claimed the 135lbs strap. Kerry is one of the most hard hitting and exciting females in the world, and she will be making her first defence versus Lucie Bertaud – a top French fighter who has medaled at the IMMAF World Championships and is also a European amateur boxing champion.

“Lucie specifically called out Kerry in this encounter by sending BCMMA the three word message: ‘I want Hughes’. This bout will undoubtedly be explosive and we are proud to announce this as our main event for BCMMA 17. The December show is hotting up and we’ve got many more mouthwatering match ups to announce soon!”
